Why JoeScout exists
Most "best coffee maker" roundups get recycled from a spec sheet — same ten machines, reshuffled, with a byline that never says who actually tested anything. JoeScout starts from the manufacturer documentation and published lab data for every model we cover, then flags the picks where that data is thin or the marketing is doing the heavy lifting instead of the coffee.
How we research
- Documentation first. Specs, warranty terms, and manufacturer support pages are checked before a machine gets a recommendation — not just the marketing copy on the retail listing.
- Cross-checked against published data. Where independent lab results or verified owner data exist, we weigh them against the manufacturer's own claims rather than repeating either one uncritically.
- Maintenance content tested at home. Cleaning and descaling guides describe the actual steps, not a generic "consult your manual" — most are things we've run ourselves.
- Updated, not left to rot. Prices, availability, and model lineups change — guides get revisited rather than left to quietly go stale.
