In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), JoeScout discloses the following: this Site contains affiliate links. If you click one of those links and make a purchase, JoeScout may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you.
As an Amazon Associate, JoeScout earns from qualifying purchases. JoeScout also participates in affiliate programs with coffee equipment and coffee retailers (including but not limited to ShareASale, Impact, CJ Affiliate, and direct retailer programs). Links marked with a "Buy" button or a retailer name are typically affiliate links.
How affiliate links work
When a link on JoeScout leads to a retailer (Amazon or a coffee/coffee-equipment merchant) and results in a purchase, the retailer's affiliate program pays JoeScout a small commission. This comes out of the retailer's marketing budget, not your pocket — the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly.
What affiliate revenue does — and doesn't — do
Affiliate commissions help fund the research and testing behind JoeScout's guides. They do not determine which product gets recommended first. A machine or product earns its ranking by checking out against manufacturer documentation and published data — see About JoeScout for how we research — not by paying the highest commission. Where a lower-commission or non-affiliate option is the better pick, that's what gets recommended.
Display advertising
JoeScout is also funded, in part, through display advertising (banner ads served via ad networks including Google AdSense). Display ads are clearly labeled "Advertisement" and are visually separated from editorial content — they are never disguised as articles or recommendations.
